We deiced to make some game boards for C's family. I think we started in March. We ordered the marbles. We took the game we wanted to make and made a copy of the place of the holes with a crayon. C punched out the holes with a leather hole punch tool. We set them on the rounds and spray painted the holes. We borrowed C's sister's router and routed the track on the back (Chinese Checkers side) and then the holes for the boards. We decided to do Chinese Checkers on the back as well. We picked out several designs for the leather middle and came up with 5 good ones. We routed out the holes to inlay the leather. We then routed out the spots for the homes, bases, and start circles. We painfully cut out all the leather (we tried pre-cutting, but we ended up redoing about 3 boards of the homes...) and fit it to the appropriate spot. We painted all the leather, put boarders on the homes, and painted the homes. We stained all of the center circles and stained the boards. Then we glued the homes, bases, start circles, and center circles into place. We took pictures:
We gave them away. It was quite an experience. All in all it took about 10 months and more money than we expected. Everyone loved them.
