We went on a trip to Albuquerque. My husband was on business and M & I came for fun. His parents moved there 3-4 months ago so it was nice to see them again. The flight out was good. I had my hubby there to help. The only think I didn't like was the fact that we were sitting in row 1 and my carefully packed diaper bag didn't help much as it was nicely stowed in the overhead compartments.
Visiting my in-laws was nice and relaxing. M really learned to sit up well that week because they didn't have any of the toys we have (a bumbo, a little stander thing, high chair...) so basically we just put her on some quilts with pillows around her and let loose!
My husband left on Wednesday night since they were done with their business, but my ticket was set for a Friday departure. On Thursday I left M with Grandma & Grandpa and took the train to Santa Fe to visit my uncle. I don't think I've seen him for about 7 or 8 years. He showed me around town and took me out for lunch. I didn't get to see my cousins, but I did see my aunt. I enjoyed a day as an adult and not a mommy. I love being a mom, but it is still nice to have a day to myself.
Friday we flew home and that was a disaster! Apparently you need to be at least 30 minutes early for your flight to check your bags... I was (not kidding) 2 minutes late and the lady was telling me that I could fly out tomorrow instead (if I had bags to check). Yeah right. I was so glad that my husband had thought to take two of our bags (so I only had to worry about one) otherwise I probably would have had my in-laws ship our stuff back to us. I raced through the airport to security. I was worried that I would get held up at security because I had packed all of the things I didn't think would make it through security in the now carry-on bag that was supposed to be checked. As it turned out, I only had to chuck some lotion and they let me pass. They were really great about putting my stroller together and helping me with my stuff. I did make it on the plane (although I was the last one to board) and M had fallen asleep in the stroller. She stayed asleep when I took her out and, of course, promptly woke up screaming when I was trying to get settled in my seat. I had boiled some water and put it in her bottles so that they would be warm when she needed them. Unbeknownst to me, when security tested her bottles they unscrewed the bottom of one of them. As I pulled it out it poured all over me & M. The water was pretty warm too. M was screaming and I was crying by that point. Finally I pulled myself together and screwed the bottom back together. I pulled out the other bottle and prepared it, but she didn't want it anyway. She fell asleep again and the rest of the flight was fine. I was very relieved because I don't think I could have taken much more. I don't do well with change.
I think she looks like one of her cousins here.
I can sit up all by myself!
You can't tell but she has been eating her toes.
She found a friend. The cat isn't really into it though.

She is such a doll! And I am jealous of her hair! Poor Kollette looks like a bald cancer patient still. lol.
Ugh, flying with babies is the worst. I won't tell you all my many, many horror stories. It will be eaiser next time, I promise.
M's a cutie!
you didn't tell me all the rest of that story. that's HORRIBLE! yeah airports are pretty mean. i'm not a fan, but it just is SO MUCH FASTER. i can't make myself drive again! :/
funny the word they made me spell is "dries" ironic, since you weren't dry all your flight home...
So I don't have a way to RSS feed to this blog, so I never know you have posted unless you let me know. . .
I am sorry about that flight night mare, but I am glad you got to see my bro! How is he?
